Apocolypsis

Apocolypsis

how do you know you have all the pieces?

Synopsis

Apocalypsis is an experimental surreal drama that follows Elihle, a man trapped in denial after the death of his mother and the trauma of his childhood. Moving through fragmented memories and surreal spaces, Elihle struggles with isolation, grief, and emotional stagnation. As recurring symbols such as red balloons, mirrors, and a mysterious blurry entity appear throughout the film, Elihle is gradually forced to confront the wounded child within himself that he has spent years avoiding.

The film explores the psychological journey from denial to acceptance, revealing that the entity haunting Elihle is ultimately his ten-year-old self. Through this confrontation, Elihle finally acknowledges his pain, grief, and memories of love shared with his mother. Apocalypsis concludes AMBIGUOUSly not knowing if Elihle finds peace within himself, completing his emotional journey from chaos and repression to healing and acceptance.

Hotel California

Hotel California

Tagline: “Enjoy Your Stay.”

Synopsis

Hotel California is an experimental dreamlike romantic film about two people who meet during a two-week stay at a hotel that exists outside ordinary life. In this suspended space, Bonnie and Nkanyezi slowly fall in love not through grand gestures, but through shared silences, conversations, and the quiet permission to be themselves. The hotel functions as a liminal space neither home nor destination where desire is allowed to surface without consequence, echoing the restrained romantic longing of Wong Kar-wai’s In the Mood for Love (2000) and the conversational intimacy of Richard Linklater’s Before Sunrise (1995) and Before Sunset (2004).

As reality presses in, their connection spills into musical fantasy, the film draws influence from the French New Wave romantic musical The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (Demy, 1964).
